I’m a lawyer, entrepreneur, and scholar.
• As a lawyer, I practice law as a shareholder at Maupin, Cox & LeGoy, where I represent clients on a wide variety of litigation and transactional matters across different jurisdictions. Previously, I served as a criminal prosecutor, tried dozens of misdemeanor and felony cases, and briefed and argued issues before several courts in Nevada, including the state supreme court. Before prosecuting, I practiced law for five years in California for some of America’s top law firms. My practice focused on business and employment litigation and counseling, class actions and mass torts related to financial services, and criminal investigations. I represented clients with novel issues on high-profile, high-stakes cases in state and federal courts in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
• As an entrepreneur, I offer consulting services related to academic achievement and public speaking. Separately, I helped launch a legal-recruiting website with an algorithm that matches lawyers and law firms based on mutual compatibility.
• As a scholar, I write on how to interpret constitutional and statutory texts, and on how to apply law to new and emerging technologies. My articles have been published by top law reviews, including at Harvard and N.Y.U., and have appeared in leading technology publications. Currently, I’m a part-time Olin-Searle fellow at the UCLA School of Law, where I’m writing an article on the Sixth Amendment and DNA evidence.
Earlier in my career, I held prestigious judicial clerkships with two federal judges—first with the Honorable James V. Selna of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, then with the Honorable Carlos T. Bea of U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. I received my J.D. from Yale Law School, where I served on the flagship law journal and won the school-wide moot court competition for best written brief and oral argument. Valedictorian of my class at the University of Notre Dame, I received a B.A. in political science and a B.B.A. in finance, both summa cum laude. I was named the top finance student in the College of Business, awarded the top prize for my honors thesis in the College of Arts & Letters, and elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
I’m admitted to practice law in California and Nevada, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and other federal courts. I’m fluent in Spanish and conversational in Italian. On a more personal note, I’m passionate about running and have completed eight marathons, including the Boston Marathon.
